Doctor

  • Dr. Rodney J Schieffer


    Dr. Schieffer, a graduate of Kansas State School of Veterinary Medicine, came to Olathe in l974 to start his own animal clinic, Colonial Animal Hospital.  In 1979, he purchased a second practice, combined it with Colonial, and established Southside Pet Hospital.  Dr. Schieffer truly enjoys  meeting the pets and their owners as he discusses current veterinary treatment and wellness options.  He actively pursues new treatment information through continuing education opportunities and applies appropriate treatment strategies to his medical practices.  Dr. Schieffer is out of the office on Fridays.

    He lives in Olathe with his dogs (Golda and Bill) and cat (Abby).  He spends time working in his yard, traveling AND watching his grandchildren's activities.


  • Dr. David C Gray


    Dr. Gray, a graduate of Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine, has been a partner/owner of Southside Pet Hospital, Inc. since 1984.  Dr. Gray's trademark is providing  personal attention to his many clients and patients, making great effort to keep clients informed of their pets' health status.   He strives to offer quality veterinary medicine and diagnostics, incorporating current treatment and pharmaceutical trends in his practice.  Dr. Gray is out of the office on Wednesdays.

    He and his wife, Kate, live in Olathe with their two daughters, Emily and Elizabeth and pet dog (Freckles).  David enjoys sports (especially KSU football) and talk radio.   Emily is now a graduate student and Elizabeth is looking at colleges for fall, 2009.   

     


  • Dr. Trent Eddy , DVM


    Dr. Trent Eddy joined the practice May, 2006.  He is a graduate of Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine.  He is out of the office on Tuesday, but you can make an appointment to see him any other day.

    He and his trusty dog have settled in Olathe and are enjoying getting to know the community.  If you ski, you might meet up with him on the Colorado slopes!

Management

  • Kathy Fordyce , Practice Coordinator


    Kathy has been with Southside for over twenty years!  She serves as the doctors' right hand and has been involved in practically every aspect of this practice.  She has definitely earned the title of practice coordinator. 

    Kathy and her husband, Robert, share a passion for watching their grandson's activities.  Kathy has many activities that give her pleasure:  fishing, camping, hiking, basketball games (probably KU), and even pulling weeds in the garden!  Wicea, the chow-chow and cats, Moose and Lewis, share the family home on the hillside above Lake Olathe. 


  • Alison Zuwalt


    Alison maintains our records and contacts clients about services their pets may need.  She spends a good part of her time talking to clients, so be sure to tell her hi when she calls!.

    Alison loves to play with the puppies and kittens that visit us.  They remind her of all her pets at home!  Alison is taking challenging classes at Johnson County Community College AND got married last summer.  She is one busy, efficient gal!


Technician

  • Daria L LaLumondier , Registered Licensed Veterinary Technician


    Daria is a great addition to our staff.  She is very proficient in the surgery, lab and dental areas!  She has been invaluable to support our doctors with monitoring hospital and surgery patients as well as performing dental procedures. 
     
    Daria has many outside the practice activities that keep her very busy.  She is very active at the gym which certainly makes it easier for her to handle any large pets in the surgery ward!

Reception

  • Barbara Farris


    Barbara joined our staff in November of 2003.  Her dedication to her work is noticed and appreciated by the staff and clients alike. 
     
    Barb stays busy in her off hours, tending their acres and helping care for her mom.  She is a mom herself of two young adults!  She also enjoys traveling with her husband to the beach or other interesting destinations. 

  • Vicki Ebenstein


    Vicki has been with Southside since 2005!  She is at the front desk, ready to help you.  She and her husband live in rural Johnson County and are the proud parents of two recent college graduates.  AND they are expecting their first grand child. 

  • Melissa Coker


    Melissa is another front office professional, helping clients at the end of the day and on Saturdays. She is very efficient and effective in helping to keep the rush hour running smoothly. 

    Melissa is the only one on our staff that tap dances!  She and her husband, Scott, live in Olathe with their two daughers, Ava and Bryn.  These little ones keep the parents on their toes!  AND Melissa  has other hobbies as well:  listening to jazz, dining out with her husband (Scott), shopping for the girls and playing with the cats (Beaumont and Baily).  


  • Casey Hall , Veterinary Assistant


    Casey started as an animal caretaker in 2007, moving to a position at the front desk in 2008.  She and Melissa handle the rush hour in the afternoons and man the front desk on Saturdays.

    Casey is busy planning her summer 2009 wedding! 

Kennel

  • Kennel Support


    Brandi, Stephanie, Sierra, Cassandra and Elizabeth work in the kennel area:  walking, feeding, cleaning and playing with the boarding pets.  All these conscientious people work hard to provide quality care for your pets. 


Grooming

  • Janet Stuart


    Janet is an experienced groomer and we are happy to have her on the staff.  She is available to visit with clients and their pets to get just the right grooming look!  Her gentle and patience touch is evident as she bathes, clips and fluffs pets. 

    Janet and her husband, Ken, keep busy with family and friends.
